Afterimage
A field of white over torn and textured surfaces is the past inserting itself into the present. Layers of cardboard and paint overlap, partially erased and partially preserved, leaving traces of gesture and time like impressions lingering long after their making.
The painting does not seek resolution. Nothing is fully resolved, yet nothing resists either. Ruptures, abrasions, and voids appear not as conflicts but as evidence of passage and persistence. Light plays across the surface, revealing fragments and shadows that linger as if suspended in time.
Afterimage exists in the quiet space between what was and what is, where memory, material, and time converge. Traces and residual forms act like echoes, faint glows of gestures lingering in the present, leaving subtle imprints that speak without asserting control. The work asks not for interpretation but for presence, inviting the viewer to witness these gestures and inhabit the suspended space where perception meets itself as both observer and observed.
