ONE OF TWO
ONE OF TWO
“One of two” is an interactive mixed media piece exploring the dual tension between freedom and framework. At its core lies a movable orange tile, inviting the observer to engage not just with the visual, but with the philosophical. It may be placed in one of two fixed anchor points, rotated freely, and repositioned by individual choice, reflecting the paradox of agency within predefined systems.
The orange represents force, action, and decision-making power, something kinetic and alive within a largely monochrome, textured world. The upper portion features a transparent glass panel with subtle black textures underneath, left behind by drying paint. The lower portion contrasts with a distressed, grey surface that feels eroded and organic.
This interplay of surfaces and components invites the viewer to consider the cost and consequence of choice and how individual preference operates within fixed systems. No placement is permanent, and every position becomes a momentary negotiation between preference and compromise.
